SCENE 1 | Dr. Nitwhite has just discovered there is only one word in the english language that has the "ip" sound at the end of it- "lip". Then Lionel comes by with a book, The Adventures of Mississippi Skip and his Pirate Ship. Hearing all the "ip" words in the title, Dr. Nitwhite decides to head back to the lab. Then Theo notices his tea and says "I think I'll have a... SIP!!!", causing Nitwhite to scream frightenedly offscreen.
SCENE 1 (Cont'd) | Lionel shows Walter and Clay his book and they confuse it for a parrot book, and start to leave when they hear what it's really about. They become interested again when Lionel tells them there's a parrot in it. Then Leona pounces on Lionel, who also mistakes the book for a parrot book. Walter says that there is a parrot in it, though.
Insert | Barnaby B. Busterfield III says "Pirate, parrot, parrot, pirate, just read the book already!"
SCENE 1 (Cont'd) | So Lionel does, and Walter and Clay interrupt the book to say that the parrot named Chip is hip. After the book, the pigeons compliment on Chip, saying he had "Such courage, such spirit, such strength..."
Insert | "Such nonsense." adds Busterfield.
SCENE 1 (Cont'd) | Lionel decides that they should all play "pirate"! Leona tries to get a role in their play, but Lionel won't let her or Clay play because they're girls and there were no girls in the book, leaving them disappointed.

SCENE 2 | Leona and Clay are still depressed because Lionel won't let them play pirate. Cleo comes along and Leona explains the situation, so she goes to talk to Lionel. Cleo interrupts Lionel's playing and asks him if what was happening was really true. Lionel says that they're girls, and there were no female pirates, so Cleo explains that he can pretend to be anything when he isn't that thing, so Leona and Clay can as well. So Lionel lets them play, with the exception that they at least have to play as boys.
SCENE 2
(cont'd) |
Then, Theo brings down a book about Anne Bonney, who was a real-life female pirate; in which surprises Lionel that there are also girls that can be pirates too. Leona wants to be Anne Bonney when they play pirates, but suddenly Anne lifts herself out of the book and says that she can't, and if they're playing pirate, she should too, unless they only want pretend pirates. When Lionel says that anybody is allowed to play pirates, Anne takes over the idea and forces Theo, Cleo and a few monkeys passing by to play as well. She chuckles, saying it looks kind of like her old crew.
