Lionel's Book Is Here
SCENE 1 The episode starts with a delivery woman bringing in a package with some books in it. Lionel comes in and asks his parents if his new book is here. Theo opens the package and takes four books out, "The Selfish Giant by Trish Tishman", "A Very Squishy Fish by Kishma Kishburn", "Miss Gish's Wishes by Misha Fisher", and "Cliff Hanger and the Fish and the Eagle by Livingston Dangerously", which was the book Lionel wanted! Then Leona arrives, wanting to know what Lionel's new book is, but Lionel tells her that she won't be interested in it.

In the story, Cliff Hanger sees an eagle and dresses up as a big fish so he can get off the cliff. Leona finds it hard to believe that eagles eat fish, but Lionel tells her that they do, so he decides to show her proof.

SCENE 3 Leona comes back with a fish costume just like Cliff Hanger, and tells the eagle in the book to pick her up so she can go flying. Lionel tells her that the eagle won't pick her up because real eagles won't think she's a fish. After Lionel leaves to finish his book, the eagle comes out of the book and picks Leona up.

Lionel continues the story from where it left off.

(The Adventures of Cliff Hanger: Cliff Hanger and the Fish and the Eagle (part 2))

The eagle gets Cliff Hanger off the cliff and drops him into its nest. Unfortunately, the eaglets begin eating Cliff Hanger's fish costume, so he jumps off the nest, and lands back on the cliff. After the story is finished, Lionel suddenly hears Leona's voice and is shocked that the eagle took her inside the book!

Quotes[]

  • Cleo: Patience, Lionel.
  • Lionel: Ohhhhh!
  • Theo: [gasps as he spots Cliff Hanger and the Fish and the Eagle] AHA!
  • Lionel: AHA!
  • Cleo: Aha.
  • Theo: [sarcastically] Could this be the book you've been waiting for, Lionel, as if I didn't know?
  • Walter: [holding a jackhammer] This is the way you tickle a stone statue.
  • Busterfield: [laughing hysterically as the word "not" gets removed]
  • Clay: Buster is ticklish!
  • Theo: Time for dinner, son.
  • Lionel: Oh, no, no, no. No time for dinner.
  • Cleo: Oh, it's always time for dinner.
  • Lionel: Cliff Hanger's just a made-up story. A real eagle's not going to think you're a real fish.
  • Leona: Yes he is, yes he is, and he's going to come out of this book and pick me up and I'm going to fly. You'll see.
  • Announcer: Buster is not ticklish.
  • Busterfield: Ah, accuracy in the media. You saw it here first.
  • Lionel: (reading 'Cliff Hanger' story) Suddenly, Cliff sees an eagle, flying high above the cliff.
  • Leona: I'm an eagle! I'm an eagle!
  • Lionel: (clears throat)
  • Leona: Sorry.
  • Cliff: Nice fish suit, miss (when he sees Leona in her fish suit).

Notes and Trivia[]

  • The word "fish" from the Fred Says segment flies and swims to the Sea Word Morph segment; then it changes from green to yellow before the segment starts. The word also flies across the screen in orange at the end of the episode when Theo asks "Why was she dressed up like a fish?"
  • This episode was last broadcasted on PBS in April 2009.
  • This episode aired the same Day as Sesame Street Episode 3902 (With Elmo's World Episode: Dogs).
  • The robot words segment has the same bigger font as in The Popcorn Popper.
