- The host of the cooking video, Anthony, is played by Anthony Asbury.
- The bakery Anthony visits is a real bakery in Norwalk, Connecticut, known as The Sono Baking Company.
- Cheesybreadville" was written by Sonia Manzano, AKA Maria from Sesame Street. Many of the cast and crew of Between the Lions also worked on Sesame Street, including Emilio Delgado, who voiced the ram in "The Ram in the Pepper Patch," who played Maria's husband Luis.
Easter eggs to the show's crew are hidden within the newspaper.
- The news articles in the newspaper that Cleo reads in "Making Bread" read "Christopher surfs the net", a reference to executive producer Christopher Cerf, "Peter's puppet play postponed", a reference to muppeteer Peter Linz, and "Doctor experimenting with monkey memory", a possible reference to the flash game Monkey Match on the website.
